What We Do
Fiercely Leading Youth, Inc. is a 501 ( c ) (3) not for profit company seeking to promote student success through high school graduation and beyond by providing free resources, services, and programming which empower, inspire, and educate at-risk youth who are in transitional housing, homeless, emancipated, or similarly socially-emotionally or economically disadvantaged.
Fiercely Leading Youth, Inc. bases its work in the research of University of Wisconsin developmental psychologist Bradford Brown who identified four areas of development which adolescents are faced with. These are:
- To stand out: to develop an identity and pursue autonomy.
- To fit in: to find comfortable affiliations and gain acceptance from peers.
- To measure up: to develop competence and find ways to achieve, and
- To take hold: to make commitments to particular goals, activities, and beliefs.
Social-emotional programs assist all adolescents, and even more so those at risk, in developing skills to meet these areas of development in a positive and meaningful way. Fiercely Leading Youth, Inc. seeks to implement free programming heavily focusing on social-emotional development, character growth, and specialized skills training.
